After some digging I found out about the Speedmaster Reduced which is a 39mm automatic version of the regular moon watch. It fits great on the wrist and has a kinda like presidential band which I adore. Since getting my first 60’s Seamaster 30 a couple of years ago I’ve been looking at (and fallen for) the Speedmaster Reduced for a more functional and sporty watch. More specifically the second version 3539.50. I am looking to get a new watch and was looking at the Speedmaster reduced. I actually love the look of the watch, but I am scared 39mm might be too small. I never had the chance to try one on, but did try the normal Speedmaster which fit just right (thought it fitted more like a 40mm, so scared the 39mm fits more like a 37mm)
The most attractive watch, to me, is the Speedmaster and I see Omega used to make a "Reduced" model with a smaller case and a couple other changes such as an ETA movement. The reduced will always play second fiddle to the Pro. When people are asked for an opinion on the Speedmaster reduced, this is typical of the sort of answer that surfaces! If only they would add, “IN MY OPINION” to the statement! IN MY OPINION, I prefer my reduced to my Speedmaster Professional! I really wanted a vintage 36mm Omega chronograph but wasn’t finding one easily for a fair price so when I saw a nice speed master reduced with like new Omega strap for k, I jumped on it and am very happy with it. Over the last couple of years I have followed several discussions on different forums debating what exactly is a "Reduced", and why the "39" is not. Most centered around the Valjoux 775X models having a different subdial layout, as well as a date.
