This is one of the reasons it went from hollow end links to solid. So I mix up some epoxy and sparingly apply to the retaining ring, position it on the dial and center it. I sparingly apply it to the datewheel and then position the overlay. I find that lining up the middle of the three with the stem gives me the best result. Let it dry overnight. So anybody wanting to do this build with a current dial from Raffles will need to use day and date wheel overlays to make it work. You can see how the day window in OP's dial cuts into the minute/second track in a way that the gen dial and Raffles' current Day-Date dials do not.
